Though we now recognize it as a precursor to the modern tank, it’s worth noting that Leonardo himself wouldn’t have used the term “tank” as it was not coined until World War I. Leonardo’s innovative war machine was typically referred to as the Leonardo da Vinci Tank or the Leonardo da Vinci Armored Car.
